Incompetent and Ignorant

The Hospital Authority Board Chairman Dr C H LEONG said this morning on a local TV show that the investigation, requested by the Chief Executive of the Government of HKSAR Mr Tung on the entire structure of our health-care system, is to review and realize the areas of weaknesses and to learn from it, not to realize who was incompetent during the break out of SARS in the region.

Dr. Leung, then just what the hell does it take for you and Dr. Yeoh to realize that 3 medical personnel among the 234 had died from SARS in the region so far, and god forbid the many to come, and that justice is much needed and much overdue for them?! The problem is exactly that even when you people did realize the weaknesses, you never learn from them!

All Good Things…

Captain’s Blog May 16, 2003.

I have just finished watching the entire seventh and final season of Star Trek: The Next Generation on a 7 disc DVD box set. At HKD$720 per season, it is a steal compared to the US prices for the set, or the Hong Kong prices for the VHS tapes of HKD$169 each with just 2 episodes back when KPS, a local video superstore, carried them. KPS never made it to, I think, the sixth season, and no one else seams to have them back then. I used to have some 30 tapes of the odd episodes from season 3, 4, and 5 which I have loaned to a “friend” of a friend who never returned them and made a lame excused that he had lost them. How can anyone lose 30 VHS tapes all at once?!

Anyway, although I’ve never gotten the chance to see it when it first aired, I think it is a very good season with some of the best episodes from the entire series even when the delay has been almost 10 years. The special features at the end of disc 7 is simply a must-have. Some of the best performances from Data and Q can be found in this season. But as Q said at the series finale All Good Things…, “…like all good things in life must come to an end…”.
