Faye Wong Japan Concert on DVD

While on the subject of concerts on DVD. I also bought Faye Wong Japan Concert. I originally was tempted to buy the Code 2 DVD which is the Japanese version of the DVD but was put off by the high price. I have several Code 2 DVD’s of concerts and most of them are of utmost recording quality. I saw the local version today for only $35 so I decided to give it a try.

Despite being in Japan and all, I was dreadfully disappointed by the recording of this DVD. I should have realized it by the low price tag and the producing company being Universe Laser $ Video Co. Ltd. Some of the worst videos I bought were from this company.

While the performance of Faye in this concert was of her usual standard, the recording of this DVD has got to be the very crap of the craps.

Now I don’t know if I should get the Code 2 version…. I hated it when companies don’t take their work seriously.

Concerts on DVD

I have bought several concerts on DVD yesterday and today. Two of which I have just finished watching which I really like. Eason Chan 3rd Encounter Live 2003, and Alan Tam HacKen Lee Live 2003.

While searching for the links here, I couldn’t help but realize this - just why are all the official websites for the majority of the artists in Hong Kong such crap! Some don’t even contain their latest albums. Mediocrity for Quick Buck strikes again.

At any rate, Eason’s imitation of Alan Tam was perfect and simply hilarious. The talk of HacKen’s roller coaster like career with Alan was most heart warming. In which, the performance of the 3 artists were of top notch quality, and are highly recommended.

I seldom arrange any leisure activities too much ahead of time, so that’s why I miss out on most concerts even for the ones I really wanted to watch live. DVD works well for me, and I buy legit copies for sure.

One of the strongest reasons for me to keep buying legit copies of CD’s, VCD’s, and DVD is that at one time, I bought a legit copy of HacKen Lee Concert with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra; a year or so later, TVB aired an interview with HacKen. He was explaining how his career was at an all time low, and that he was arguing with his manager how much he wanted to do this concert with the Hong Kong Philharmonic. His manager absolutely disagreed with him, and said that he would never bounce back in this business if he went ahead to do the concert, for he did not think the style fitted HacKen’s profile.

As it turned out, the concert did alright, but the DVD for the concert was a huge hit. Later, HacKen finally got the Best Singer in Hong Kong title, which he so wanted for so long and which, I personally think, it’s long overdue. When I heard his story on TV, watching his tears almost running down, I felt my purchasing a legit copy of the DVD was accounted for, and that made me one of his supporters which sure helped him in his career.

For those who never buy legit copies of anything, I sure hope one day they would realize their own hard work could just as easily be wasted and received no payment and no recognition whatsoever.

The TV is Back Online

The repairman came yesterday and fixed the TV. He couldn’t figure out why it blew the second time. He said if it goes again, he would have to arrange to have it brought back to the shop.

It’s been on for over 10 hours these 2 days. Hopefully this lasts for at least a couple of more years.
