Protect the Unprotected

Sad news on the chairman of the Society for Protection of the Harbour, Mr. Winston Chu Ka-sun, who had announced his resignation Saturday after receiving anonymous letters threatening him and his family.

I wonder about the possible origin of the threatening letters, since Winston and the government were supposed to be coming to an agreement earlier last week on the issues of land reclaimation in the Victoria Harbour area, and things seemed to be looking merrier for most on both sides of the argument. I have a feeling that the letters were from those who use democracy as an avenue but don’t actually care for it, just to stir-up troubles in the region. Why else would the letters be coming in such a time while most arguments have come to their closing stages.

The group’s vice-chairman, Ms. Christine Loh Kung-wai will take the chair.

There is a Chinese saying, “Decent men are scared of crooks, but crooks are scared of bitches.”

Where is legislator Ms. Emily Lau Wing-hing when it really counts?
