Violence.
Rape – Revenge – Violence.
Probably no other bloodiest scenes from any film you have seen could have left you so speechless and horrified!
This Gaspar Noës film is arranged with its “chapters” (as in DVD’s) played in reverse order where the rapist was beaten up by the boyfriends about just 20 minutes into the movie before the girlfriend (Bellucci) was even introduced which surprisingly kept the suspense in an otherwise pointless story until almost the end (or the beginning).
If not for the fact that the disc is readily available in any local video shops, all the film awards printed on the back of the disc box, and Bellucci, and instead with just any unknown actor and actresses, one might wonder if this were a snuff film!
Let me borrow a phrase from Kubrick’s film, A Clockwork Orange:
“The old in-out in-out, very savage.”
After watching the uncut version of movie, one question remains…
the rapist was…?
