It is reported that F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone said ‘[Ferrari] were supposed to have all sorts of problems with tyres and their engines but it doesn’t look like they have,’ after the Ferrari one-two finish in last Sunday’s race, in views for a possible yet another change in the qualifying format after just one race with the new qualifying format.
I am not a Ferrari fan, but Ferrari is undoubtedly the best team, possibly in the entire F1 history. Unlike my favorite team Williams, who have klutz working at the pit who can’t even refuel or change tyres properly, team Ferrari’s pit crew is so slick and the two cars are so fast, that they could put in an extra stop just for the hell of it and the two team cars would have still come in one-two. Hack, they almost (and possibly could really have) lapped every other cars in the race as they slowed down a few seconds a lap at the last 3 to 4 laps. Unlike team Williams, Ferrari drivers are a great cooperating team with very little unforced, or teammate (reads “Ralf”) induced errors. And unlike most other teams, Ferrari has a relatively reliable engine.
Ferrari’s reign is a well deserved one.
As long as everyone play by the same rules, I doubt any rule or rule change can crush team Ferrari unless some unfair rules like heavier weights are added to the faster cars is applied.
Making the race more interesting is one thing, but out to get one team is another. Shame on you, Bernie.
WhaUSay?!
