RIP
Hey me! Talk to me!
PCCW stikes(out) again.
I received a call a couple of days ago from PCCW, a local phone company, telling me how much they appreciate my company’s loyalty to them all these years and they would send a rep to my office to present us a free landline SMS phone as a token of their appreciation.
As soon as they hanged up the phone I immediately knew they would require a further 12 month service contract with them for the “gift”. When the rep came, I told him they could either truly appreciate my loyalty and give me the gift without any further service contract necessary or kiss off.
I am a person who’d appreciate good services and wouldn’t mind paying a little more for them, but I do not like being bogged down by any contract.
I must say though, this time around, the rep had been very polite and professional. Without pushing the contract, he asked me what other services I might need. He presented a business broadband internet service plan that is similar priced to other broadband service providers’. At first, the promotional materials stated an expiry date of May 31st, but he said the date has been extended. I gladly signed up for the contract free service.
Yesterday, the rep called me and said that the plan has just expired and presented me with the next heavier usage plan instead. I told him I do not need any higher usage and the extra hours would have been no use to me. He said he’ll try and see what he could do about the original service plan for me.
Started about 2 weeks ago, the modem speed connecting to PCCW’s internet servers have been extremely slow. It is now so slow that it feels like a 14.4K connection from some 7-8 years ago. I wonder if they have been slowing down their modem connections deliberately just to get more people sign up for broadband services.
I just called the rep today and left him a message saying if they could not provide me with the original plan that I signed, I would switch to So-Net instead.
WhaUSay?!
