We resumed our Sunday biking this morning after a 2 month break from rainy days and friend staying over. This is the first time Alec worn his new bike helmet since he bought it after our last Sunday biking where he ended up with a minor heat stroke from his old and much less ventilated helmet. This one works great for him and it looks much better.
Today was a nice breezy day. Not so hot but kinda too windy for roller-blading. It caught William in a front wind making it difficult for him heading back. We all went kinda slow today taking us about an hour and a half round trip yet still not much of a workout for me since I had to go at Alec’s much slower speed. I ended up doing a full workout at the gym this evening as well. Perhaps it is time to get Alec a bike with gears so he could go faster without needing to go at a frantic cadence.
Alec’s bike is crap. Get him a new one.
Oh, have you biked with that same model before?
It’s not about how much you paid for the bike, it’s suitable or not.
The bike not only lacks the gear, it’s also too small and low. (The legs should be stright or almost stright at the lowest point of the stepper.)
Any you deduced all that by yourself from a single picture?
The Target 7 is a 12″ wheel bike designed for full size adults. Both the seatpost and the handlepost have at least another foot to be extended and it is very sturdy when they are fully extended. In this picture, Alec’s lower paddle has not reach the lowest point yet and he has not had the seat set up to the optimum height for he didn’t feel like doing so.
As for the gear, it is good for casual biking, but just not fast enough to go at my speed for any length rides. Which doesn’t mean it is crap either. Just not suitable for biking with me at my speed for over 15K like we do on our Sunday rides. I’d prefer to take it to the local 7-11 or any short ride over my Speed Pro anytime. Which is also one of the reasons why I am not considering a trade-in should I decided to get Alec a new bike.
