Mizuno Runners

Bought my very first pair of Mizuno runners about 2 months ago. The Mizuno 8KA-56200 series Conquest 2. They were about HKD$270 a pair. I have been wearing them for gym ever since in place of the 6 year old New Balance.

The Mizunos have less lateral support but are much much lighter than the New Balance, which is understandably so since these Mizunos are for street running and New Balances are for all terrain.

Last Saturday, I was in the area (Shum Sui Po) of the shop I bought them from, so I went in to have a look and found a few other colors of the same shoes on sale for HKD$199! So I bought another pair in a different accented color to replace my 5 year old Fila tennis shoes which I only use them for daily street walking anyway. At these kinda prices for such a nice and ultra light pair of runners it’s practically a steal these days considering the New Balances are at least HKD$300 to over $500 a pair in Mongkok.

The shop I bought the Mizunos from is the one and only sports shop right at the Golden Computer Centre building, Shum Sui Po. I was told they have some of the best prices in HK.

For the shoes from Mizuno. Most of them are for racing and having less lateral support as well as much lighter than others. It is not a good choice for day to day wearing.

Oops. Too late, I have already thrown away the tennis shoes. Thanks for the clarification though.

Thanx for the tip. I have always wanted to get a pair of Mizuno for jogging. The cheaper (~$500) New Balances aren’t very good for running and jogging.

Last year, I did some web search about running shoes when I have to bought my pair for jogging. If you are series, you need to consider your weight, your jogging freq, the distance, the track… and how you jog (pronation).

I was also attracted by Mizuno at that time. But When I go for shoe and try it out, My Asics really was better. It costed me $500. And I was out of job at that time.

Shoes is important to me, cause I had an injured knee. It will complain if the shoes don’t give enough protection.

There is a site called something like running world or something like that. There is a chooser page: you answer some question, and the site will make suggestion (and asks you to shop online, of course). But not all the models are available in HK.

I said the Conquest 2 has less lateral support than the New Balance all terrain, which doesn’t mean the Conquest 2 has no support. A pair of street runners doesn’t need the same kind of lateral support as a pair of all terrain runners.

As for myself, I don’t jog. I only walk. And the Conquest 2 are very good for my every other day 10K walk on the treadmill. I don’t feel any hard spot on the soles after each walk and my feet never felt tired.

The New Balance did give me a sore knee 5 years ago soon after I used them. They didn’t this time around, nor do the Conquest 2 after over a month’s walk. That may or may not mean anything about the shoes as I have stepped up my thigh training as well along with my treadmill walking this time around.

It is such a co-incident that I bought that shoe at same price as yours at City One 2 weeks ago. It is sure good for jogging.

Yes, the Conquest 2 are one of the most comfortable runners I have ever worn.
