AE Debit Card

For the second time in 2 years, AE sent me a bill for the annual fees of their Debit Card totaled HKD$1,075.00 including one auxiliary card for M. I have had my AE Credit Card for years and I think this is the 3rd year I have had their Debit Card which the owner must repay all charges on or before the payment due date. I seldom use their Debit Card mainly because there aren’t too many shops that accept them and I have grown accustomed to using their Credit Card over the years and I always pay up all my charges before the payment due date anyway, so I only restrict to using their Debit Card for online purchasing or any major home appliances. I think my last usage was to purchase the Apple iPod 5G video.

While they had waived the annual fees last year upon my request, this year, when I called in, they offered a HKD$1,000.00 coupon book should I decided to renew and pay the annual fees. My question is, just who in Hong Kong nowadays still pay annual fees for their credit cards? None of M’s or my pile of credit cards require any annual fees be it Platinum, Gold, or regular. While credit card owners could opt to defer their monthly charge payments by paying the minimum payment, debit cards owners must repay the entire sum before the due date had expired. Unless there is any hidden advantage on debit cards over credit cards, I see no reason to have one.

My pair of 23 year old J.A. Henckels scissors has just done their job flawlessly.

Just cut it. There is no reason.

If you find you need AE later, you can always apply again.
