James Mok’s Soliloquy

Ever since watching Disney’s The Incredibles, I have been wondering who the Superhero’s fashion designer Edna “E” Mode was supposed to be in real life, for Edna seems to be so familiar.

It would appeared that Edith Head is what most claimed found with Google. However, Art Moco mentioned Edna is Edith Head, Karl Lagerfeld, and Rei Kawakubo.

While I am not sure how credible that info was and what Rei is really like (maybe they meant her hair), with Karl, I think Art Moco meant the way he talks. That said, it got me thinking though that perhaps Issac Mizrahi might be an even closer match in the way he and Edna talks.

Feeling a little tardy through out the holidays, hence just a handful of posts lately.

During TV showing of the “Red Carpet” of the 23rd Hong Kong Film Awards on CableTV Channel 13 last Sunday night, witness the lowest class reporter of all time. Yes, even less than JR over the other side of the ocean.

During the entire admission, just like all other award shows, the reporter asked the stars and their spouses a few questions about the industry and their clothing. That particular CableTV reporter, with a cheapy looking suit and tie, and a sloppy hair do (not unlike Stephen Chow Sing Chi’s Terminator hair do imitation in his movie All’s Well End’s Well) himself, not only asked the ladies which designer their dresses were from, but also asked how much money did they cost! What’s even less class of him was, when the ladies did not tell the prices, he would say “oh, must cost 5 figures…”. Which goes to show not only has he no class, he has absolutely no clue about designer fashion.
